Fogra PSO Certification

Why Fogra PSO (Process Standard Offset)?

About 10 years ago the International Standard Organization published the ISO 12647 standard for offset printing. This standard was formulated in conjunction with major industry experts – Fogra being a major contributor of technical information.

Fogra has subsequently introduced the PSO Certification. This is a documented set of procedures and processes aimed at ensuring that print companies can achieve ISO 12647. Once a print company has successfully implemented these procedures and passed the examination process, Fogra issues certification that the print company conforms to the ISO 12647 standard.

Standardization in print is essential in achieving consistent colour – quality - while at the same time ensuring streamlined production.

Besides these obvious benefits to buyers of print and printers, standardization contributes to the “GREEN” movement by reducing waste - thus limiting the effect print has on the environment.

DigitalView has received accreditation as a Fogra PSO Partner. This gives us the ability to assist Print Companies to achieve PSO Certification.

What does DigitalView Offer?
DigitalView has gone through the process of developing expertise in colour print production over many years. In February 2010, Laura Minter travelled to Fogra’s headquarters in Munich, Germany to receive final training and to write the qualifying examination.

This means that DigitalView can perform an audit on any print company wanting to implement ISO 12647 Standard, irrespective of what production systems are in place, issue a report outlining what (if any) procedures need to be implemented and then assist with the execution of the onsite certification test for evaluation by Fogra. Fogra then issues certification of the Company’s conformance to the standard.

ISO 12647 cover various areas of offset print production. A print company, whether they use sheetfed, web, gravure or silkscreen presses can use DigitalView’s services. In addition to this, the ISO 12647 covers proof certification as well as proof verification for digital presses. So, even if you do not have a complete “conventional” print operation you can use DigitalView to certify proof production and digital press profiles.
